The Rome City Schools Curriculum and Instruction is based on the Georgia Standards of Excellence for grades K-12. The Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE) provide clear expectations for instruction, assessment, and student work. They define the level of work that demonstrates achievement of the standards, enabling a teacher to know “how good is good enough.” The performance standards identify the knowledge and skills needed to problem-solve, reason, communicate, and make connections with other information. The GSE includes the content standards (the concepts/content a student is expected to master), suggested performance tasks, sample student work, and teacher commentary on that work.
