Rome City Schools Superintendent Dr. Eric L. Holland recently received a proficient evaluation from the Rome City Board of Education.

The board evaluated Dr. Holland on 10 indicators, including student achievement, staff development, stakeholder engagement, and safety and operations. Board of Education members awarded high marks on seven of the 10 indicators. The board finalized the review and approved it with a unanimous vote.

“Dr. Holland continues to show a strong commitment to Rome City Schools, and we are happy with the direction the district is going under his leadership,” Rome City Board of Education Chair Faith Collins said. “The board gave him a favorable evaluation. We feel that he is doing a good job of running the school district, and we look forward to seeing what the district achieves moving forward.”

Rome City Schools has celebrated numerous achievements over the previous school year, with a record number of graduates from Rome High School. Several elementary schools have received honors for academic success, and Rome Middle was named a Math Leader School by the Georgia Department of Education. Seven of the schools received a three-star climate rating or higher. Every Rome City school was awarded the Ready Georgia Seal of Preparedness, and the district continues to focus on the Literacy Before Life For Life initiative. Rome City Schools has seen an increase in the fund balance and has established a strong financial plan to ensure that the system is well-positioned for sustainable growth, continued academic excellence, and long-term stability.

“I’m honored to serve this school district. I’m grateful to our school board for allowing me to serve our students, staff, stakeholders, and school system. As a school governance team, we have worked collaboratively to create opportunities for all students. Also, we have made a conscious effort to invest in and support our staff. It has been a remarkable year of growth, progress, and sustained achievement for our district. I take immense pride in what we have accomplished together, fostering an environment where every student is empowered to reach their highest potential,” Dr. Holland said. “Our teachers, students, staff, and administration are the best around, and I can’t wait to see the many achievements of our students and schools this school year.”
