sportsmanship award

Rome High School athletes and coaches don't just excel on the field, court, track, and stage. They are also outstanding ambassadors for their school and community. That commitment to respect, integrity, and sportsmanship has earned Rome High School the Region 5-5A Cooperative Spirit Sportsmanship Award presented by Georgia's EMCs.

The prestigious award honors schools that exemplify the values of respect, fairness, honesty, responsibility, and good sportsmanship in interscholastic athletics. The recognition reflects the collective efforts of student-athletes, coaches, administrators, parents, and supporters who help create a positive environment for competition.

“We are extremely proud of our student-athletes, coaches, and supporters for earning this recognition,” Rome High School Athletic Director Chris Boden said. “Sportsmanship is something we emphasize every day. We want our students to compete at a high level while also representing Rome High School with class, respect, and integrity. This award reflects the culture our coaches have built and the way our students carry themselves both on and off the field of play.”

Rome High was one of 64 regional winners recognized across the state by the Georgia High School Association and Georgia's EMCs. The award celebrates schools that demonstrate exemplary conduct during athletic competition while fostering positive relationships among athletes, officials, opponents, and fans.

“This honor belongs to everyone involved in Rome High athletics,” Boden said. “From our coaches and athletes to our parents and community members, we are fortunate to have people who understand that how you compete is just as important as the final score.”
