Rome City Schools has named Claudia Loyola as the new head girls volleyball coach at Rome High School. Coach Loyola brings a strong background in competitive play, coaching experience, and leadership to the program.
Coach Loyola finished up her college playing career at Shorter University this last fall. During her time at Shorter, she served as a team captain for two years and earned multiple honors, including Defensive Player of the Year, Defensive MVP, and All Conference recognition.
Loyola has club volleyball coaching experience at both Tsunami Volleyball Club and TK Volleyball Club. At Tsunami, she has led teams to success at multiple levels, including a 19 and 3 record with a regional team in 2025 and coaching a national level team in 2026.
“Coach Loyola was impressive during the interview process. She is very smart, detailed, and organized. We were excited to bring those qualities to our girls volleyball team. She has also already coached the sport of volleyball for many years, while she was getting her degree,” Rome high School Athletic Director Chris Boden said.
Loyola emphasizes building relationships, fostering teamwork, and creating a positive and inclusive environment for student athletes.
