The Georgia Alternate Assessment 2.0 (GAA 2.0) evaluates demonstrated achievement of academic standards. The assessment ensures that students with significant cognitive disabilities are provided access to the state academic content standards and are given the opportunity to demonstrate achievement of the knowledge, concepts, and skills of those standards. These assessments are given towards the end of the school year. The GAA 2.0 results are used to guide the planning of classroom instruction and monitor student progress.
Rome City Schools administers the GAA 2.0 assessment to students with significant cognitive disabilities in grades 3-8 and 11 in April. The teachers use the data to evaluate a student’s summative achievement level in various content areas and provide information concerning readiness for the next grade.
