FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Rome City Schools Celebrates Progress with CSI Schools Rome, GA – Today, Rome City Schools celebrates a significant milestone: Anna K. Davie Elementary has exited the Georgia Department of Education’s Comprehensive Support & Improvement (CSI) list for elementary grades. This achievement reflects remarkable progress and dedication from students, teachers, and families at Anna K. Davie Elementary School. While celebrating this success, Rome City Schools acknowledges that sixth-grade middle school classes at both Anna K. Davie Elementary and Main Elementary were named to the newest CSI list. The district is committed to providing targeted support and resources to accelerate progress in these grade levels. “We are incredibly proud of the collective effort that has brought Anna K. Davie Elementary off the CSI list for elementary grades,” said Dr. Holland. “This achievement demonstrates the strength of our school community and their unwavering commitment to student success.” The district’s focus for both schools moving forward will be twofold, as outlined by Dr. Holland and the Teaching, Leading, and Learning Team: Strengthening Literacy: Recognizing the crucial role of reading in academic achievement, Rome City Schools will continue to implement targeted literacy initiatives. These initiatives are tailored to these schools’ needs and utilize evidence-based reading programs and strategies. Fostering a Safe and Supportive Learning Environment: Recognizing the positive impact of a safe and supportive environment for student success, the district will continue to focus on social-emotional learning and the safety of all students. This focus will create an environment that empowers our students to learn in an atmosphere that fosters improved achievement. “While we celebrate this step forward, we recognize the journey for Anna K. Davie Elementary and Main Elementary is not over,” said Dr. Holland. “By prioritizing literacy and creating a safe learning environment, we are confident that both schools will completely exit CSI in the coming years.” Rome City Schools remains committed to providing all students access to a high-quality education that prepares them for college, career, and life success. By celebrating progress, addressing specific challenges, and implementing targeted strategies, the district is building a foundation for success for all students throughout the district.

Attention Rome City Schools Families: Based on conversations with our Local Emergency Management office regarding the potential for severe weather tomorrow, Tuesday, January 9, including flash flooding and high wind gusts, Rome City Schools will be delaying school TWO HOURS. This decision prioritizes the safety of our students and staff by allowing for travel during daylight hours when weather conditions are expected to be improved. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but safety is always our top priority. Time Change Examples: Elementary Schools: - If your child's normal school start time is 7:15 AM, it will be delayed to 9:15 AM. - Bus pick-up times will be two hours later than usual. - Car Rider Drop-off times will be two hours later than usual. - Staff will report two hours later than their normal arrival time. Secondary Schools: - If your child's normal school start time is 8:30 AM, it will be delayed to 10:30 AM. - Bus pick-up times will be two hours later than usual. - Car Rider Drop-off times will be two hours later than usual. - Staff will report two hours later than their normal arrival time. Dismissal times will remain the same for all schools. Please be sure to adjust your schedules accordingly and check for any further updates from the school district. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we prioritize the safety of our school community. Stay safe and have a good day!
