ICYMI: All Rome City Schools locations will be observing summer hours during the month of June.
Thank you to Georgia Power's Education Initiative Program, Learning Power, for engaging our learners at Young Scholars' STEM Camp.
The kids got the opportunity to build transmission towers, create various circuits, and learn about conductors and insulators.
Camp coordinators report that the activities were highly beneficial to our students. They provided hands-on experiences, fostered critical thinking and communication skills, deepened their understanding of energy concepts, and connected theoretical knowledge to real-world applications. By engaging in these activities, our students developed a holistic understanding of energy and its role in our lives, paving the way for informed decision-making and a greater appreciation for sustainable energy practices.
Not to mention, it looks like a lot of fun!
🌬️ Happy National HVAC Day! 🏢❄️

Who is ready for the cutest photos you'll see all week? We present Fire Safety and Water Day at Rome City Schools Summer Language Camp! This seems to be the students’ favorite event at camp, and we bet you can see why!
Rome-Floyd County Fire Department Station 5 visited, with fire safety educator Linda Patty, Captain Hickman, Corporal Gardner, and Sargent Fowler teaching the language learners about fire safety.
After the important fire safety lesson, firefighters brought out the big hose and gave students a chance to enjoy a fun water day! Ms. Callaway was even allowed to spray the hose! Students were thrilled to play in the water from the hose and get to know the firefighters. This wonderful event builds community and relationships with our neighborhood first responders.
What a way to end the week of language acquisition!
Congratulations to Rome City School Board Attorney and RCS Alum, Chris Twyman, on being installed as Treasurer of the State Bar of Georgia!
A big thank you to Staples for its $1,000 donation in support of educators, students, administrators, and district associates. We are grateful for neighbors like you!

Rome City Schools Summer Language Camp hosted Parent Day, a family event, at Elm Street Elementary School.
Parent Day is a favorite Summer Language Camp event. Teachers and students set up an art gallery of projects and activities created by the students during camp. The gallery was full of colorful projects and creations that served a dual purpose: assist our students with language acquisition, while also being fun!
Families toured the art gallery to see all of the amazing language learned over the last few weeks. They were also given at-home learning kits containing reading, math, writing, and language practice that will help families continue enrichment and academic practice over the summer. Rome City Schools Family Engagement also provided books to help families build their home libraries.
Summer Language Camp hosts students from across Rome City Schools, with around 120 camp attendees. Parents day drew 110 families this year!
Rome City Schools is proud to participate in Juneteenth events taking place in the community. Dr. Holland will be in the Juneteenth Parade Saturday morning and RMS Principal, Christian Barnes, will be speaking at the Excellence Scholarship Event on Monday.
