ROME GROWN SPOTLIGHT: This week, we honor RHS C/O '08's Wadrick McCluskey. During his Junior and Senior years, Wadrick served as drum major for the Sound of the Seven Hills. Continuing his passion for music and marching bands, Wadrick went on to the University of Georgia, where he joined the renowned Red Coat marching band. In addition to his musical pursuits, he majored in Accounting and Spanish. Wadrick's dedication and hard work paid off, as he became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), combining his love for numbers and language proficiency. He further expanded his horizons by living in Nairobi, Kenya, where he completed an international work assignment—an experience that undoubtedly enriched his perspective and global awareness. Currently residing in Atlanta, Georgia, Wadrick serves as a corporate accountant for Rivian Automotive, an electric vehicle manufacturer. Wadrick's involvement extends beyond his professional endeavors. He is a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, and his exceptional achievements have recently earned him a nomination to serve on The University of Georgia's Young Alumni Board for the Terry College of Business. Congratulations on your achievements, Wadrick! If you would like to nominate someone for our #RomeGrownSpotlight, visit here: https://bit.ly/3ZTkX27

Rome City Schools' Summer Language Camp, hosted by Elm Street is in full swing. This week, the campers had a visit from the Rome-Floyd E.C.O. Center. Campers learned about various wildlife from our area including turtles, snakes, and alligators. They also got the unique opportunity to touch and observe the animals. Summer Language Camp serves around 150 students from all over Rome City Schools from grades K-6. Summer Language Camp is a wonderful language acquisition opportunity that offers real life experiences for camp attendees. Many programs and lessons are centered around animals and new vocabulary about animals. The experience is not only fun, but fully supports our curriculum!

Carpe Every Diem was the message behind Rome High School’s Class of 2023 graduation, and is also the title of the book that was given to every graduating senior. Thanks to a partnership with Atrium Health Floyd, each graduate received a copy of Robie Rogge’s Carpe Every Diem: The Best Graduation Advice from More Than 100 Commencement Speeches. The book is a collection of the wisdom of some of the most notable graduation speakers in history. Every book included a note from Rome City Schools Superintendent Dr. Eric L. Holland and $1 for graduates to begin their next journey in life. Dr. Holland and Atrium Floyd Health President Kurt Stuenkel hope this collection of motivational quotes will inspire the next generation of great leaders. Atrium Health Floyd is the Official Healthcare Provider for Rome City Schools.
